Annual Ski-A-Thon Fundraiser

Team Wesley

On May 25, 2020 we lost our great friend Jack Savage after a 5-year heroic battle with Ewing’s Sarcoma. Jack was an inspiration to all that knew him, as he was a shining light of joy and fun, all while going through an intense and terrifying battle with cancer. Despite the daunting odds, Jack never wavered in his fight and continued to stay positive and refused to give up. He was like a superhero to his friends and family who watched him continually live life to the fullest in the midst of undergoing countless treatments that no one in their early twenties should ever have to endure. While beating cancer and entering remission several times, Jack didn’t let anything slow him down a bit. He graduated from University of Texas, created an amazing iPhone app called Emoji Bodiez, created his own line of adaptive clothing called “Savage Vibes” designed for cancer patients undergoing treatment, traveled the world, went skiing and snowboarding at any opportunity, and soaked up glorious moments with his beloved family and dog Cleo. Some words that come to mind when thinking of Jack are: Laughter, Fun, Humility, Leader, Hero. Jack was a friend to everyone and had no enemies. He was truly a legendary soul who will always stay in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

After Jack’s passing, his family and a few of his closest friends wanted to start something that would allow us to honor Jack’s legacy, while also giving back to organizations with the goal of Making Cancer History. This birthed the creation of the Jack Savage Foundation! Our goal for the Jack Savage Foundation was to raise funds and awareness for cancer research, and specifically to be a voice for Pediatric and AYA (adolescent and Young Adult) Cancer. We decided to start an annual Ski-a-Thon raising money for the fight against cancer while enjoying the company of great people doing what Jack loved, shredding the slopes! We linked up with MD Anderson’s Children’s Cancer Hospital and have been able to make HUGE strides since the inception of our Foundation in 2021. From Crested Butte, to Breckenridge, to Lake Tahoe, it is incredible to acknowledge that we are preparing for our 4th annual ski-a-thon this year in Steamboat Colorado! The event will take place from February 8-10th this year and we hope that you will join us!

There will be several opportunities to contribute to this cause. Please let me know if you are interested in being a team member on Team Wesley this year or if you are interested in donating to my team! If you would like to donate (any amount) to our cause you can do so directly through my Team link! Every bit helps! Check out our foundation’s website at jacksavagefoundation.org . There are options to donate directly or to become a corporate sponsor. There will also be informative information on this year’s trip as well as what we are up to as a foundation out in the community! Also please spread the word of our efforts. I encourage anyone who is interested, to get involved! We are on a mission, and we would love your support!
